Sumie Nakaya
Sumie Nakaya joined the Conflict Prevention and Peace Forum in October 2003 as a program coordinator. She is also pursuing a Ph.D. in political science at the City University of New York, where she focuses on post-conflict state building in her dissertation, and has a master's degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Her recent publications include articles and book chapters on gender and peace-building. Prior to joining the Council, she was a program specialist for governance, peace, and security at the United Nations Development Fund for Women. She also worked in Mozambique and Cambodia with UN peacekeeping missions and non-profit relief organizations.
