Abby Larson

Abby Larson coordinates SSRC programs on K-12 and post-secondary education: education and law; education and business; and evaluation, assessment, and interpretation. She brings to her current work on New York City public schools a comparative international perspective. Larson comes to the SSRC from projects on stratification, social institutions, and organizations in Argentina, France, Germany, England, and the Balkans where her research was supported by organizations like Rotary International and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Larson has consulted on publications and projects for organizations including the International Center for Transitional Justice, the European Union, and the Berlin Senate. She studied at Oxford University, the University of Buenos Aires, Olavarria, Carleton College, and Stanford University, where she earned a master’s degree in sociology and a bachelor’s degree with honors in international relations. Forthcoming publications include a Harvard Business School case study on New York City public schools, coauthored with SSRC Program Director Richard Arum and Senior Adviser Doug Guthrie.
